Zhuhai Opera

Inspired by the underwater night ambience and since the building is located by the seaside, the intervention of the interior space was focused on creating a subtle degradé of ultramarine blue on the walls and ceiling and using shades of bright sand colour for the seats and floor representing the seabed. On the exterior facade, as on the water surface, the perception is totally different and to show this exciting contrast the choice of colours and shapes corresponded to the sunset and the waves of the ocean surface.

This metaphorical game of taking the interior and exterior of the sea as reference for the inside and outside of the building was a key way of taking into account the architecture at a whole scale to push the artistic intervention to the edge of creativity.
